EYT is Officially in Effect, Published in the Official Gazette

We had previously brought the EYT (Retirement Age Victims / Those Impacted by Retirement Age Regulations) agenda to the table several times.

The President had made an announcement in December, and it was discussed in the parliament within the same week.

As of today, it has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.

- Individuals who commenced insured employment on or before September 8, 1999, will benefit from the regulation (20 years of insurance duration for women, 25 years for men, and more than 5,000 premium days).

- The conditions differ for Bağkur (Social Security Institution for self-employed); 7,200 premium days are required for women and 9,000 for men.

- No age limit or restriction will be applied for EYT.

- Those who fulfill the premium days and insurance duration requirements, aside from the age condition, will be eligible to receive a pension.

- A 5% support premium subsidy will be provided for employees who are re-hired at the same workplace within 30 days after retirement.

- Support will be provided from the Credit Guarantee Fund regarding the severance pay of EYT beneficiaries.

- Retirement applications can be submitted via e-Government (e-Devlet) or directly to the Social Security Institution (SGK).

- The minimum pension shall not be less than 5,500 Turkish Liras.

There is no difference between applying for retirement on March 3rd or March 31st; you will be entitled to receive your pension starting from the following month.

For this reason, to ensure the process is fully clarified and to prevent any potential procedural issues, it is advisable to submit your retirement application toward the end of March.

Process:

- Employment termination due to retirement will be processed by the company (severance pay will apply, but notice pay will not) (Code 8)

- Following the employment termination, retirement applications can be submitted through 2 different channels:

* SGK Provincial/District Directorates

* Via the e-Government (e-devlet) portal

- If employment at the workplace is to continue, re-entry of the employee into the workplace must be processed (subject to Social Security Support Premium - SGDP). If the re-entry is processed within 30 days, a 5% premium discount will apply)

Application process via e-Government

After logging into the e-Government system, type any of the words 'pension', 'retired', or 'income' into the search bar, and click on the result stating ‘issuance of income and pension allocation request document’.

On the subsequent screen, click on the ‘new application’ tab.

Select ‘old-age pension’ as the allocation request type.

Those requesting a pension under SSK (Social Insurance Institution) shall select ‘4A SSK’, and those under Bağkur shall select ‘4B Bağkur’. Then, click the ‘apply’ button located at the bottom.

Your Turkish ID number, name-surname information, and residential address will be displayed on the screen automatically.

Select the bank where the pension payment will be made and type the requested branch of the bank in the description field.

Fill in the remaining contact information fields.

The question ‘Are you currently receiving a pension?’ must be answered by explicitly marking either ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

Click the ‘next’ button and then click the ‘apply’ button to submit your information to the SGK.
